#599 Safety Advisor –Niagara Falls Office
THE JOB
The Hatch Safety Advisor will work under the direction of the
PDG Niagara Falls Lead. In this leadership role the Hatch Safety
Advisor will plan, implement and support Hatch’s comprehensive
health and safety management system. This position will be based
in Niagara Falls. Travel is required.
Responsibilities:
• Coordinate the implementation and enforcement of the Hatch
Health Safety Environment and Community (HSEC) policy.
• Develop and participate in the inspection and audits of
construction sites and offices.
• Assist in investigations of complaints for possible workplace
health and safety violations and provide specialist guidance in
interpreting appropriate legislation.
• Develop and assist with the implementation and evaluation
of programs that reduce exposure to unacceptable levels of risk.
• Observe work practices and inspect work environments to
identify hazards.
• Administer and design safety awareness programs.
• Plan, organize, direct and monitor health and safety programs,
policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Federal and
Provincial laws and regulations.
• Provide input to proposals.
• Execute training and information programs for all staff
and projects.
• Investigate WCB claims and review all incident reports.
• Employing Hatch’s Safety Information Management
System (SIMS), maintain all safety statistics for the office and
its projects.
• Evaluate and qualify contractors for bidders list.
• Perform job safety analysis, analyze operations, identify
risks and implement preventative measures.
• Coordinate incident investigations; document and supervise
preventative and corrective action.
THE
CANDIDATE
Qualified
candidates will have the following qualifications and experience:
• Hold an Occupational Health & Safety diploma/degree
from a recognized college/university with a minimum of 10 years
experience in safety, with 5 being at the managerial level.
• Experience in water and wind power projects in both green
and brown field environments.
• Experience in EPCM & CM projects.
• Working knowledge of relevant Occupational Health and
Safety legislation.
• Possess or actively pursuing a CRSP designation.
• Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with government
regulators, employee unions, agencies and appropriate representatives
of management.
• Ability to analyze, classify and rate risk exposure and
maintain accurate records.
• Superior oral and written communication skills. Excellent
interpersonal, listening and interpretive skills.
• Ability to be flexible, multi-task and work well under
pressure.
• High motivation and energy, self- starter as well as a
positive attitude and pleasant and calm demeanor.
