Safety Analyst
BRITISH COLUMBIA
RAPID TRANSIT COMPANY LTD.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the Safety & Training Manager,
the Safety Analyst is accountable for:
• Working with departmental managers & supervisors to
establish/maintain a Health and Safety program enabling BCRTC
to be a leader in H&S.
• Performing periodic mini safety audits and assist with
major audits;
• Developing and maintaining: safety policies, procedures
and manuals;
• Remaining current with changes to regulations and standards;
• Developing and maintaining a relationship with BCRTC’s
regulating agencies: e.g. BCSA and WorkSafe.
• Assisting with and/or conducting accident/incident investigations;
• Collecting and analyzing safety data, including some data
entry and production of reports;
• Developing/delivering safety training to employees and
management;
• Coordinating emergency response agency training and exercises;
• Conducting or assist safety inspections
• Assisting with monthly departmental safety meetings;
• Adding value to various standing or ad hoc committees;
• Grade
12 or equivalent:
• Post secondary training in occupational health and safety
equivalent to a two year diploma.
• Professional designation: CRSP preferred; CHSC desired
• 4-5 years’ experience in occupational health and
safety in an industrial environment
• Experience in a rail transit environment is desirable.
• Excellent interpersonal skills are required
• Strong writing and organizational skills are essential
• Strong computer, data collection analysis skills are essential
• Experience supervising employees, and providing leadership
would be preferred
