Health, Safety and Environmental Coordinator

Earth Tech’s North American Contract Operations division
manages and operates the Edmonton Composting Facility, on behalf
of the City of Edmonton.
Currently,
we are seeking a candidate to fill the following position: Occupational
Health, Safety and Environmental Coordinator.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Develops, reviews, updates, and implements the OHS&E
program including related policies and procedures
• Investigates incidents and manages injuries
• Provides technical support to incident and near miss reporting,
investigations and follows-up on recommendations
• Conducts regular inspections and audits (internal and
COR)
• Develops, implements, maintains, and coordinates effective
emergency response program
• Implements industrial hygiene program
• Coordinates medical monitoring program
• Implements safety training program
• Coaches and mentors managers and employees on OHS&E
• Conducts hazard analysis, HAZOPS (Hazards Operability
Studies) and participates in Job Hazard Analysis
Requirements
of the position are, but not limited to:
•
Post secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety or
Industrial Hygiene
• Certification as a CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional),
or CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), or Certified Health and
Safety Consultant (CHSC) would be considered assets
• A minimum of two years experience in a related role
• A minimum of two years experience in an industrial and/or
manufacturing environment would be considered an asset
• Excellent communication, written and verbal, and presentation
skills
• Knowledge of and a thorough understanding of relevant
legislation, especially the Occupational Health and Safety Act
• Good negotiating skills, tact and diplomacy
• Excellent attention to detail
• Posses a logical and enquiring mind and a methodical approach
to work
• Ablity to cope under pressure
• Strong interpersonal, presentation and teambuilding skills
• A self motivated and determined style persuasive and assertive,
including decision making abilities
• Comfort within an environment which honours open and honest
feedback, ethical business practices, employee interaction, change
management and workplace diversity
• Strong computer skills - MS Excel, Word, Project
