Position Summary:
As an integral member of the Occupational Health and Employee Rehabilitation Unit (ERU), the Worker’s Safety and Insurance Board Specialist manages the reporting and monitoring of WSIB incident reports and claims. The successful incumbent will identify trends and work collaboratively with Occupational Health, Safety and others to ensure compliance with WSIB guidelines and minimize costs. Duties and Responsibilities include: liaising with WSIB; tracking claims in the Parklane system; monitoring the NEER cost statements to identify trends and advise the appropriate stakeholders; collating and analyzing data to prepare reports and presentations; and working with safety and the unit management groups to develop and present action plans. The successful applicant must commit to working in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and hospital policy, utilizing protective equipment provided and identifying and reporting hazards.

Required Qualifications:
* Completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent experience in WSIB management.
* Minimum of three (3) years in Occupational Health and Safety.
* Knowledge and application of legislation in WSIB Act, Health and Safety, Human Rights WHMIS etc.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal) with strong conflict resolution skills.
* Proven ability to deal effectively with all levels of staff.
* Demonstrates strong organizational, decision making, prioritization and time-management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
* Excellent training and facilitation skills.
* Proven to be a dedicated team player, who demonstrates initiative and independence.
* Computer proficiency including MS Office.
* Satisfactory work performance and attendance is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of the Parklane system
  • Regulated Health Professional
