Job Title : Safety, Health, Environment & Quality Officer
Reports to : Operations Manager

Short Job Description:

  • Promote SHE-Q policies and actions
  • Assist in setting SHE-Q targets and monitor progress
  • Development and implementation of risk assessments
  • Accident investigations and incident reviews
  • WorkSafeBC liaison; responsible for maintaining all WorkSafeBC documentation
  • Develop and monitor back-to-work programs
  • Safety reviews and inspections
  • Responsible for safety documentation
  • Assist in reporting of accidents and injuries to head office in Rotterdam using SMIT’s Marine Accident Reporting System
  • Development of induction program(s) for new employees
  • Employee safety training
  • Administration of vessel documentation (charts & publication updates, Notice to Mariners, assisting crews to maintain vessel libraries)
  • International Safety Management (ISM) review
  • Environmental management
  • Participation in vessel safety audits
  • Develop & implement safety policies and procedures
  • Facility Security Officer

Qualifications:
• Occupational Health and Safety diploma or equivalent
• In depth knowledge of OH&S legislation and standards
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• PC proficient, particularly with Microsoft applications
• Marine related experience an asset
