The City of North Vancouver’s Human Resources Department requires an exempt auxiliary Occupational Health & Safety Assistant for approximately 12 months.
You will be assisting the Occupational Health & Safety Advisor with updating the City’s Safety program and procedures as the City works towards achieving COR (Certification of Recognition) certification. You will develop and implement safety programs, policies and procedures consistent with COR requirements. You will have the ability to organize your work, set priorities and work with minimal supervision. Excellent communication skills and the ability to establish working relationships with internal and external stakeholders are key to this role.
You will have completed one year of post-secondary education and be working towards a Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety. BCMSA – COR Internal Auditor and Safety Management Systems certifications would be an asset. Experience working in a municipal environment and working towards obtaining COR certification would be an advantage. You will be proficient in MS Office, particularly Word and Excel, and have the ability to work with an electronic Records Management system, including scanning, filing and searching for documents. You will also be in possession of a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License.

Hours of Work:
The hours of work are 35 hours, within the work week of Monday to Friday, with the possibility of some flexibility.
