Greetings certificants, the BCRSP has had a busy first quarter of 2024. The Board met virtually in March, and the updated strategic plan was finalized. The core strategies and goals remain the same, however, the Board has consolidated the goal statements. The updated version is available here.

It is an ambitious plan; however, work has already started towards achieving these goals and the Board is focused on moving forward on these initiatives.

Credentialing Training

In 2023, the Governance Committee brought forward a recommendation to the Board that governors have access to training that supports their understanding of the business of credentialing. To this end, the governors are participating in a series of online training modules developed by the Institute for Credentialing Excellence that provide a foundational understanding of certification processes. The Board has completed 4 of 6 modules to date with targeted completion by the end of the month. After this initial training process, the Governance Committee will create a recommendation for which training modules are required as part of a new governors onboarding process.

IDEA Task Force

The IDEA Task Force’s mandate has been extended to June 2024, and the task force is actively engaged in data analysis both from the recent salary survey, and from the renewal survey data. The analysis is comparing the existing certificant population to relevant Statistics Canada data to inform the Board on risks and opportunities as it relates to the current certificant population. Recommendations will be brought forward to the Board in June on how we may use this data analysis to support decision making related to marketing and outreach, as well as to identify potential barriers within the certification scheme.

Connect Events

In 2024, we will be re-introducing opportunities for certificants to connect in person in conjunction with our Governing Board meetings, and other events where BCRSP has a presence (e.g., existing tradeshows or conferences). We have two events upcoming:
