Mississauga, ON, September 20, 2016 – The Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (BCRSP) is pleased to announce CRSP® John Sammut as Volunteer of the Year for 2016. John is the Manager of Strategic Programs for the Infrastructure Health & Safety Association (IHSA).
John has been a CRSP® since 1991, and his volunteer service has spanned across a number of roles with the BCRSP since 2002. He has served on the Governing Board, was an integral member of the National Education Symposium (NES) Task Force and currently serves on the Qualifications Review Committee (QRC).
The award was presented on Monday, September 19, 2016 at the annual Canadian Society of Safety Engineering (CSSE) Professional Development Conference Awards Breakfast.
John is a dedicated volunteer who is committed to supporting the CRSP® certification process.

John holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Industrial Relations and is a graduate from the Safety in Engineering program at Humber College.
The Board’s Volunteer of the Year program was initiated in 2001 in conjunction with its 25th anniversary and the United Nation’s “Year of the Volunteer”. To be eligible, candidates must be a CRSP® in good standing, must have served in one or more volunteer capacities with the BCRSP other than the Governing Board and must have been a volunteer for a minimum of five years.
