In My Own Words - Sami Ullah, CRSP

Why did you decide to pursue a CRSP Certification?

A friend of mine, who is a Pakistani-Canadian National, encouraged me to pursue the CRSP certification because it was highly recommended, and there was a preference given by top KSA (Kafala system) employers like Saudi Aramco, which is one of the largest oil & gas companies in the world. Now as I am progressing towards Canadian immigration, I am very confident that my CRSP designation will help as I seek employment in Canada.

How did you find out about the Certification?

I studied in detail the requirements for certification through the BCRSP website. The details were very clear, and the step by step guidance was easy to follow. Furthermore, I called and emailed several times to the BCRSP office and they answered each of my questions in detail. Course contents mentioned in the blueprint were also very useful and helped a lot during my preparation for the CRSP exam.

How long have you had your Certification and why do you still maintain it?

I am a new certificant - I just passed the exam a few months ago, so it’s just the beginning of my journey with the BCRSP. I am happy that the letter written by the BCRSP to my employer was well praised and recognized. The positive feedback that I am receiving on my CV when they see my CRSP means that I will definitely be maintaining my certification.

If you could give some advice to someone about why they should be a CRSP, what would you tell them?

I must say to all who do qualify that you must pursue this prestigious certification, which acts as a stand-alone recognition towards a growing crowd of HSE professionals. It’s very hard these days to find HSE jobs in the Middle East - there is tough competition and to get better opportunities, applicants must hold qualifications and credentials worldwide from well-known institutions, and the CRSP designation is definitely one of these.
