Brian Spielmann, CSP, CRSP, CHST, OHST, STS successfully passed the May 2013 CRSPEX and became the 5000th individual to be granted the CRSP designation since the organization was incorporated in 1976. We asked Mr. Spielmann to respond to the question, “Why did he pursue the CRSP designation?”
“Pursuing the internationally recognized CRSP designation has been a goal for several years. Numerous mentors and colleagues told me that the CRSP was very important in their professional development.
Achieving the CRSP is a significant milestone as it broadened my technical expertise. Successful completion of the knowledge based examination validates my professional competency. As a contract safety professional in the oil and gas industry; clients seek evidence of industry experience, knowledge of standards, and professional accomplishment as evidenced by the CRSP designation. Attaining the CRSP and the Board of Certified Safety Professionals - Certified Safety Professional (CSP) designation in the United States compliments one another while recognizing safety professionals, expands opportunities, adds value to clients and is a competitive advantage that differentiates credentialed candidates from others.
The pursuit and completion of the CRSP designation is satisfying as it has been another opportunity for me to develop professionally. Ultimately, it further enables me to be an effective resource in ensuring that personnel who perform work in challenging conditions return home uninjured – everyday.”
